Flying south

I know I say this all the time, but my kids have the most awesome friends.  I want to go back in time and be 10 again so that I can hang with this crew.  I know, their parents are cool, too, but face it y'all, the under 12 crowd has us beat.

Friday, I loaded up the minivan with my little minions and headed to Destin for a quick weekend reconnect with some of our favorites.  Just in case almost October in Florida wasn't magical enough with sunshine and best friends, the monarch butterflies must be migrating because there were thousands of them dancing around us every where we went.

The children and the butterflies and the waves and the clouds.  A symphony of movement.

I'm guessing if it's already fall where you live, you may be on the phone with your travel agent right now booking a trip somewhere warm.  As much as I love fall, I also love it when summer gives us a few extra chances to play in the waves, catch butterflies, and eat ice cream after dark.

What is it about a sprinkle donut that makes even the last morning (the saying goodbye morning) beautiful?

Saying goodbye is easier now that we all live in the same country.  Goodbye for now.  Meet you here next time the sun is shining and the waves are calling.

I hope when they're 60, they're bringing their grandchildren here to eat donuts and chase butterflies and play in the waves.  I'll still buy the ice cream.
